ADOPTION PROCESS

So you want to adopt a BARC dog?

First off...

What you get when you adopt a BARC dog:

A dog that has already been spayed/neutered, heart worm tested, microchipped, and is up to date on age appropriate shots. You also get a dog that has been evaluated prior to being pulled from a shelter and a dog that has spent time in a foster home so that we can give you a better idea of their personality, energy level, and temperament.

By adopting a BARC dog, you give us the chance to evaluate and save another shelter dog. You help us save two dogs at one time!

BARC dogs are also delivered by a local trainer, who spends an hour with the new owner helping them integrate the dog into the home and answering any questions the new owner may have. The trainer is then just a phone call or email away should any questions arise in the future.

You also receive knowledgeable support from our BARC crew. If you ever have questions, we are always here to help!

What we expect from you, our potential adopter:

Love, loyalty, and a forever commitment... everything you will get back a thousand fold from a BARC Dog.

We will be visiting your home to make sure the new surroundings will be safe and secure for the dog you are interested in, and delivering the dog with a one hour training session, therefore our dogs will only be available within a 75 mile radius of Chesapeake, VA 23321. If you live outside of this range, please check with your local shelter and/or rescue group and ask them to help you find the perfect dog!

If you rent or have a homeowner's association, we would need something in writing stating that Pit Bull type dogs are allowed to reside in your home.

What are you waiting for? BARC dogs are the best!

They really are! The adoption fee for a BARC dog is well under what all of their vaccinations, spaying/neutering, food, medical, surgical care, heartworm testing/treatment/preventative, training, flea prevention, and microchipping has cost. Every dog comes with a collar, leash, harness, slow-feed bowl, a dose of heartworm prevention, and enough food to transition on to whatever food you would like to feed. If you add up what you get when you adopt one of our dogs, including access to a certified trainer, you will see that a BARC dog is the best deal in town! Charging an adoption fee also allows us to be able to continue helping other dogs. Each dog's adoption fee may vary some based on medical provided prior to adoption. For any addition information regarding adoption fees, we can be emailed at info@barcdogs.org

Feel free to contact us at info@barcdogs.org with any questions you may have. We look forward to helping you find your perfect new furry friend!
